We are Simon Steer and Alex Yates, founders of www.yourlocallogs.co.uk and have been supplying seasoned logs to our Exeter customers for the last five years. Our business was founded on the need to provide our own households with a reliable supply of quality firewood logs, sourced as locally as possible, and sourced sustainably.
From the humble beginnings of managing a six acre woodland on the outskirts of Exeter, providing quality seasoned logs for home burning and a small amount for re sale, our business developed. It was apparent that the households in Exeter and further afield were struggling to source quality firewood logs, seasoned and ready to burn at a reasonable price.
We have spent the last few years, not only felling our own timber, but sourcing legally felled, sustainable timber supplies from the local Exeter area. The trees are stored in lengths at our yard at Dunkeswell, where they are air dried until seasoned and ready to burn. This can take anything from 18 months to 3 years depending on the type of wood, time of felling, size and seasonal weather conditions. We believe that with careful planning and investment into long term supplies, air drying of legally felled timber, has to be the sensible choice for sustainable log burning.
