We are Alex Yates and Simon Steer, and have been supplying seasoned firewood logs to the Taunton, Chard, Wellington areas of Somerset for the last 5 years. Our business started from humble beginnings of managing our own 6 acres of ancient woodlands on the Blackdown Hills, and harvesting as part of a regeneration project our own woodfuel and a small quantity for re sale. It became evident that sourcing good quality seasoned logs in Somerset wasn’t always easy. We have expanded our business, and manage a larger wood on the Blackdown Hills, and also source a large supply of timber from sustainable felling within the counties of Somerset and Devon. We are keen to keep our wood fuel sourced from Somerset and Devon, believing that seasoned firewood should be a carbon neutral fuel, and not have to be imported from abroad when we can ensure a sustainable supply on our own doorstep.

Our wood is air dried at our yard, until optimum moisture content is reached for burning as firewood. We offer a variety of hardwoods, some of which have to be kept for up to three years before they are ready to burn. We also sell softwood, harvested from Exmoor forests, grown specifically for cutting, with replanting taking place to re-stock for future supplies.

Our logs are delivered FREE to Somerset addresses within 20 miles radius of our Dunkeswellwood yard, delivery outside of this area will incur a small delivery charge, and we will happily provide you with a ‘no obligation’ quote

We have a large stock of ready to burn seasoned logs in a range of sizes between 8″ to a hefty 16″ length in store suitable for wood burners, open fires, fire pits and biomass wood boilers.

All our wood is ready to burn. The cut wood is barn stored and kept under cover to keep it dry from the weather. We store the un-cut timber in lengths in the open air, so if you require a specific size bespoke to you we would ask that where possible we have notice so that should the outside of the log be wet due to rain, we have the opportunity to barn store for 2-3 weeks to ensure your logs reach you in optimum burn condition.
