We would like to say that after a hard wet winter of supplying logs across Devon and Somerset, that the time has come for a little R&R, but as they say, no rest for the wicked!
Spring seems not to have happened, so our normal routine of felling and starting to get our woodlands tidied up before the sap starts to rise in the trees, has been delayed, and it is only this week that we have finally managed to get some of our routine maintenance completed.
We have been busy felling some magnificent oaks and coining some that have fallen. Sadly, these trees are not part of a sustainable felling programme, but have become victim to the extreme weather conditions suffered over the last year. The wet ground has made them unstable, and during the summer, with so much weight in the canopy has caused them to fall, or become liable to fall.
They will be put to good use however, and may well be keeping you warm with seasoned hardwood during the winter of 2014 – 2015.
